Description
The official inauguration ceremony of the new Imperia Youth Council was held this morning at 11:00 am in the evocative setting of the Council Room of the Civic Palace.
The civic education initiative actively involved young students (aged 11 to 13) from the Sauro Comprehensive Institute's middle schools, leading to the election of 18 new councilors.
Leading the new youth parliament will be the newly elected Mayor of the Youth, Stefano Marvaldi (a student in class 2G), the most voted candidate overall with 16 preferences. Marvaldi represents the "Consiglio 2G di via Gibelli" list, which won the elections with 93 votes (19.4%).
The school elections saw extraordinary democratic participation: a total of 485 votes were cast by students. Excellent results were also achieved by the lists "Missione miglioramento 1D Porto Maurizio" (second place with 54 votes) and "Insieme noi Posso 2I Castelvecchio" (third place with 52 votes). Among the candidates most popular with their classmates, in addition to the Mayor, were councilors Matteo Massabò (15 votes), Francesco Bertolino, and Marco Sparaccio (both with 10 votes).
During the ceremony, the Mayor of Imperia honored each young representative with a copy of the Italian Constitution. This symbolic gesture underscores the importance of their task and offers best wishes for a long journey of civic engagement, always guided by a profound respect for democracy and its rules.
The Municipal Administration of Imperia would like to extend heartfelt thanks to all the teaching staff who made this important moment of active citizenship possible.
Special thanks go to Fabio Boero, coordinator of the "Sempre Diritti" project, who personally oversaw the organization of the school elections, to the school coordinator Alessandra Criscione, and to teacher Filomena Togli.
The entire City of Imperia wishes Stefano Marvaldi and all 18 elected young people a fruitful and stimulating mandate.
